Baptist Healthplex Offers September Specials

Fitness fanatics listen up! The Baptist Healthplex is making a fantastic September deal that full-time Mississippi College faculty and staff cannot refuse!

Featuring Zumba and spin classes, basketball, aerobics, racquetball, meetings rooms for civic clubs, ping pong, and an indoor track, the Baptist Healthplex is the place to be at MC. It is geared to folks who want to shed a few pounds, reduce their stress levels and make new friends.

Sending out nifty flyers and working the phones, marketing director Keith Montgomery is playing up the Healthplex's September special. For the entire month (starting Tuesday Sept. 1) this fabulous fitness facility will waive the $125 joining fee!

For faculty and staff signing, up, they must pay $25 monthly to belong - for a single membership. For full-time MC faculty and staff with a spouse who joins, they would shell out an additional $27.50 per month. For those with kids, the is an extra $22 per month for each child between the ages of 13 and 23. Membership costs for an entire family will cap out at $110 monthly, staffers say.

Baptist Healthplex improvements lately include a newly resurfaced basketball court showing off the MC logo, new treadmills, nicer aerobics rooms and better racquetball facilities.

"It is a great place to go work out," says Healthplex member Donna Winstead, MC's director of human resources. With the September discount special, joining the Healthplex, she says, is well worth it.

In recent days, Healthplex is seeing an invasion of new MC students since the start of fall classes Aug. 26. The 12-year-old facility is home to 3,000 members from the metro Jackson area, including about 1,200 students. MC enrolls nearly 4,900 students.

Last week, "we signed up a ton of students," Montgomery said during Welcome Week activities on the Clinton campus. "We gave away ipods to students signing up."
