Baptist Scholar Speaks at Mississippi College

Jim Denison, the theologian in residence at the Baptist General Convention of Texas, will visit Mississippi College for a book signing event January 26 at the Leland Speed Library.

As theologian in residence, Denison provides resources for Texas Baptists through church conferences and seminars plus BaptistWay Press publications. He's served for a decade as senior pastor of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas.

Denison is founding president of the new Center for Informed Faith that's hosted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

His visit is sponsored by the MC Office of Christian Development and the Leland Speed Library. Denison will sign copies of his newest book from 3-3:45 p.m. at the library's lobby that afternoon.

Jim Powell, chairman of the Friends of the Leland Speed Library, says he's hoping for a good turnout to meet with one of America's best communicators and scholars in Baptist life.

During his MC visit, Denison is also expected to speak to MC students and other visitors during the chapel program that morning at First Baptist Church in Clinton.

He holds a doctorate and master's from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He's written about a half-dozen books.
