8:30 PM LIGHTING OF THE QUAD: This year, MC’s annual event for students, the Lighting of the Quad, is opened up to the community of Clinton. Mississippi College is celebrating the “town and gown” all year long, a tradition that began in 1826. Free hot chocolate and Christmas treats, live music, and a reading of the Christmas story. 7:30 – 9:00 PM FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS: A time-honored tradition since 1986, the Festival of Lights is a wonderful beginning to the Christmas season. Under the direction of Dr. Milburn Price, the MC Singers present a program of music and scripture in the English tradition of Lessons and Carols. Provine Chapel. 9:30 AM DISCOVERY DAY: The Department of Music offers Discovery Day, a day to walk alongside music majors at MC. High school juniors and seniors as well as community college transfers are invited to experience classes, meet faculty and students, and discover what being an MC music major is all about.
