Dot Products Spotlights Coloring Books at Mississippi College

Mississippi College graduate Hallie Darphin returned to her alma mater on Feb. 19 to promote Dot Products, including a new coloring book.

Coloring books portraying more than 25 nations around the world are the latest venture by Jackson-based Dot Products.

Mississippi College graduate Hallie Darphin unveiled her company’s 2016 initiative during a stop at her alma mater in late February.

“Around the World – A Give Back Coloring Book” is the name of her newest item that will become available on the Dot Products website March 20.

Sales of the books will help provide school funding to poor children in the Congo, Tanzania and Mexico. Readers will discover plenty of information about each country’s culture, education and landmarks.

Coloring books are definitely fun for children, but provide an excellent form of therapy for adults.

“We wanted to put together a coloring book to give people a chance to relax, while at the same time learn about countries around the world,” says Darphin, a 2013 MC graduate.

A Christian ministry as well as a business, Dot Products sells eco-friendly school supplies and uses its profits to support education in impoverished areas. “Since our focus is education, we think it is very fitting that our coloring book can shed light on new countries for students and adults here in the United States.”

Mississippi College students received a sneak preview of several pages of the coloring book at the school cafeteria on February 19. Countries represented in the book that student artists help create include: the USA, Haiti, Mexico, Peru, Australia and Japan.

DOT Products leaders seek to develop a curriculum to provide to teachers and schools using the coloring books in classes next fall. The books are tentatively priced at $15 with the cost rising to $22 with colored pencil set bundle tossed in.

A Laguna social tribe member as an MC student, Darphin says it was nice to connect with the Laguna women joining her to promote Dot Products on the Clinton campus.

“I absolutely love being with the Laguna girls every chance we get,” Hallie says. Laguna women selected Dot Products as their philanthropy. “They are such a blessing to the company and me.”

Laguna members like Ivy Scarlett of Huntsville, Alabama, Lauren Livingston of Birmingham, Alabama and Lucy Robinson of Hattiesburg are huge fans. They all “love” Dot Products.

Other Dot Products on sale include pencils, binders, journals and rulers, all currently made by American manufacturers. Eventually, Darphin wants to move production to countries in which students are being supported. Created as an online retailer in June 2014, DOT Products shipped 1,800 products to more than 20 states and fully funded a year’s education for 14 children.

What’s next for Hallie Darphin & Dot Products? “We’ll also be interviewing and confirming our summer intern positions in March and working toward our first ever Dot Products Partner Trip to Haiti in May.”

Hallie is working with But God Ministries, a ministry started by MC alumnus Stan Buckley, to begin manufacturing Dot Products and service in Haiti.
