Gift to MC Music Department Honors Charlotte Causey

Mrs. Charlotte Causey
An extraordinary pastor's wife and faithful Bible teacher for many years, Charlotte Causey has many admirers in Mississippi.

Recently, about 20 members of her Bible class that meets regularly at the Baptist Healthplex in Clinton donated $1,000 to the Mississippi College Department of Music in Charlotte's honor.

"This is wonderful," said Charlotte's husband, Dr. Bill Causey, the retired pastor at Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton. "She's been faithful - a wonderful pastor's wife for all these years."

Charlotte and Bill Causey, who live in Clinton, have been married for 56 years. A Winona native, Charlotte Causey is a Belhaven College graduate whose terrific voice was heard singing solos many Sundays at Parkway Baptist where her husband served as pastor for 26 years. She also sang solos at other churches. Dr. Causey first served as pastor at a church in rural Kentucky.

A 1952 Mississippi College graduate, Dr. Causey later became executive director of the Mississippi Baptist Convention. At present, his wife is very ill and battling pancreatic cancer.

Eva Russell of Raymond joined ladies from Parkway Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Jackson to honor their longtime friend and dedicated Bible teacher.

"She was very interested in music - she had a beautiful voice," Russell said. And Charlotte Causey was a "precious" Bible teacher for many years, she said.

Russell and the other church ladies "were so kind and supportive of her (Charlotte)," Dr. Causey said. "This will be a thrill to my wife."

Leaders of the MC Music Department were also delighted to receive the gift that is expected to be used to purchase video equipment.

"I am pleased to accept this gracious and generous donation to the Department of Music honoring the teaching of Mrs. Charlotte Causey," said James M. Meaders, the department chairman and director of MC Choral Activities.

"This gift is such a thoughtful expression of love and gratitude from these friends who have grown in the faith because of her faithful leadership," Meaders added.
