MBA Program at Mississippi College Earns National Honors

John Daughtry and Glass by Daughtry business partner Rebecca Pevey both received their MBA degrees at Mississippi College in May.

John Daughtry raves about the MBA program at Mississippi College. And so do leaders of a new higher education website sizing up Christian schools nationwide.

“They are blessed with some tremendous professors – some of the finest in the area,” says Daughtry, a small business owner in Rankin County.

He’s pleased to hear that Christian Universities online cites Mississippi College as the No. 2 rated value among Christian MBA programs in the USA for 2015. The website is an independent resource for students and families researching Christian higher education. The site weighs the number of MBA concentrations, tuition costs, scholarships and accreditations.

Daughtry, 55, goes to work in Brandon with lessons learned in classes at Self Hall, home of the Mississippi College School of Business. He received his master’s in business administration in May.

On the Clinton campus, School of Business leaders are thrilled to see MC earn national recognition. “It is a further reaffirmation to the quality and value that we have been offering to MBA students as the oldest and largest MBA program in the metro Jackson area,” says School of Business Dean Marcelo Eduardo.

“Rankings such as these are a nice recognition that our efforts are being noticed and valued,” adds Kevin Pauli, director of the university’s 160-student MBA program. “Our program continues to provide students with an outstanding business education.”

As far as Daughtry is concerned, the Christian university’s MBA program merits a number one ranking.

Baptist-affiliated Mississippi College, he said, stands out “because it is Christian-themed. We are able to pray in class before exams. That’s a very empowering thing to have.”

Daughtry and Glass by Daughtry business partner Rebecca Pevey both received their MBA degrees at Mississippi College in May. Both earned bachelor’s degrees at MC, and went straight to graduate school. They’ve utilized the knowledge they gained at Mississippi College at their company that specializes in automobile windshield repairs.

As a result of their studies, they’ve done a thorough operations analysis of the company. It resulted in saving at least six percent on operations costs, and included deep cuts in their advertising budget. Glass by Daughtry depends much more on social media to get their message out.

“We’ve always tried to look for an edge to beat out the competition,” Daughtry said. Surviving tough times in recent years for the USA economy wasn’t easy, but the Mississippi company managed to achieve success.
