MC Hosts Jazz Band Dinner in February

Mississippi College's annual Jazz Band Dinner features delicious food, a silent auction and the sounds of modern jazz on the Clinton campus.

The Friday evening, Feb. 13, event is also a major fund-raiser sponsored by the MC Friends of Music. Ticket costs are $50 per person.

"It's always a great time with great music−we will do a lot of swing and contemporary stuff," said Craig Young, the director of MC Bands.

The program begins at 6 p.m. in Anderson Hall at the B.C. Rogers Student Center. About $8,000 was raised at the event last year. The funds will help purchase instruments, new sheets of music for MC band students and other items to enhance the band program.

The 16-member MC Jazz Band is one of a number of bands at the Christian university. MC band students are booked for a spring tour that will take them to high schools and other locations to perform around the Magnolia State in April.
