MC Monitors Severe Winter Weather

Mississippi College leaders are monitoring the latest threat of severe winter weather in the region. MC Alert is the place to go to find information regarding the status of this evening's classes on the university's campuses.

Today through Friday, Central Mississippi can expect to see nearly three times more snow than what residents faced in December.

The I-20 corridor could see 4 to 6 inches of snow, says the National Weather Service in Jackson. On Dec. 5, the metro Jackson was hit with an inch of snow, but it was up to 4 inches in parts of southern Mississippi.

Keeping an eye on the weather, Mississippi College officials are expected to make a decision on whether to postpone evening's classes by early this afternoon. Officials on the Clinton campus are pondering other decisions impacting the MC community as the latest weather information becomes available.

Members of the MC family are also encouraged to keep tabs on weather developments by tuning to Jackson area TV and radio stations.

Mississippi's projected blanket of snow is linked to much bigger weather woes around the nation. There's been record snowfall pounding states like Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland this week.
