Bill Cranford, MC Chief Information Officer
Staying on top of rapidly changing technology and managing the Department of Computer Services is Bill Cranford's job as Mississippi College's chief information officer.

This week, MC leaders appointed the Seminary native to the post on a permanent basis after he served eight months in an interim capacity.

"We appreciate the leadership and management approach he has brought to this department," said Steve Stanford, MC vice president for administration and government relations.

Cranford started work at the Christian university as network support manager in May 2000. Computers are just about everywhere at MC that enrolls nearly 4,900 students and more than 450 employees.

In his new assignment, the Madison resident will oversee a department with twelve employees. He also serves on the President's Council.

Working at MC is a labor of love for Cranford, whose office is located on the first floor of the B.C. Rogers Student Center. He said he enjoys "working with great people at MC and having a very talented technical staff - there's always a new challenge."

Cranford received his bachelor's degree at the University of Mississippi in 1984 and obtained his master's in business administration at Mississippi College in 1991. He was awarded a certificate of financial planning from Boston University in 2008.

He and his wife, Teresa, are the parents of two children.

In announcing the appointment, Stanford noted Cranford works with an excellent team on the Clinton campus. "We also appreciate the rest of our IT staff as they continue to address current and future critical needs and challenges."
