MC Office of Career Services Hires Clare Agostinelli

Clarksdale native Clare Agostinelli is the new assistant director at the Mississippi College Office of Career Services to meet growing demands on the Clinton campus.

A Mississippi State University graduate, Agostinelli worked the past three years as a college recruiter with Horne LLP accounting firm in Jackson. The Jackson resident serves as a volunteer at the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Karen Lindsey-Lloyd, MC's director of retention and career services, was delighted to welcome her to the team on the third floor of Nelson Hall.

Agostinelli "brings great perspective and business experience to this position," Lindsey-Lloyd said Monday. "The number of students and alumni has increased substantially in the past two years and we've added more programs and services."

With Agostinelli on board, "We will be able to better serve hundreds of students and alumni with resume reviews, interview coaching and programs," Lindsey-Lloyd added.

She and Hayley Taff will serve as the two assistant directors under Lindsey-Lloyd's leadership in the MC administration building.

With MC's winter graduation set for Friday Dec. 18 and a number of students seeking jobs year-round during this Great Recession, Agostinelli is looking forward to the challenges ahead. An upcoming spring Career Fair on the MC campus in Feb. 9 is also on the agenda for the Office of Career Services. Her plate will be full.

"It is important we help students find their career interests and help employers find what they are looking for," Agostinelli said at her office Monday."To create a win-win for the student and employer is what we're here for."

At Horne LLP, she led a 15-campus college recruiting program. During her time at Horne LLP from 2006 through 2009, she built a strong relationship with the MC School of Business and the Christian university's career services office.

MC's Office of Career Services stays busy. Among other things, the office, between October and December, coordinated 106 campus interviews, managed 352 College Central accounts, conducted 28 private interview coaching sessions and made presentations in 19 classrooms, including nursing and kinesiology.

The office on the Clinton campus is reaching out to more students and a rapidly expanding number of MC alumni during America's economic downturn.

Agostinelli also has worked in various positions, including marketing officer and a human resources project coordinator at Trustmark National Bank in Jackson. She received her bachelor's degree Summa Cum Laude in business administration and marketing from Mississippi State in 2002.

The MC staff member is an active volunteer, including work as publicity chairman for the Stewpot Red Beans and Rice fund-raiser at Trustmark Park in Pearl and as recruitment chairman for the Chi Omega Sorority. The Delta native has assisted as a volunteer with Junior Achievement and with the Jackson Public Schools' "book buddy" campaign. Away from campus, Agostinelli is also an avid runner and tennis player.
