MC Staffers Win Three Public Relations Awards

Mississippi College staffers recently received three awards from the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi.

The awards were presented at CPRAM's annual meeting in Vicksburg on May 26.

A first-place award went to university news coordinator Andy Kanengiser and office manager Tracy May for the news stories titled "MC Equestrian Team Hurdles Over the Competition.'' The stories highlighted the success of star rider Meredith Guider of Utica. The senior finished in 4th place in the Intercollegiate Horse Association's Nationals in Los Angeles in 2008 and in 7th place in Murfreesboro, Tenn. in 2009.

On the following day, MC's Staff Club gathered for lunch at scenic Providence Hill Farm, headquarters of the university's equestrian team. Owner Jamie Martin and her staff were happy to give the guests a tour.

A first-place award also went to MC public relations director Tracey Harrison for publications surrounding the visit of former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole. His visit at MC attracted $218,000 for student scholarships.

A third-place award went to MC webmaster Justin Garcia for his work with CPRAM spotlighting one university web page. Garcia, who's won kudos from MC leaders for his redesign of the Web site in recent months, joined the MC public relations team in September 2008.
