Miss Mississippi College 2009 Jessica Terrill of Fulton will toss the first pitch, and the singing ensemble Mixed Company will belt out the National Anthem at MC Night on April 20.

Next Monday evening at Trustmark Park, the Mississippi Braves face the Chattanooga Lookouts early in the 2009 season as part of the second annual MC event. Scores of MC faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of the university are expected.

MC supporters bringing an ID or alumni postcard to the game will be admitted for half-price. Many MC Choctaw fans will sit in Section 120 near the right field line at the home of the Atlanta Braves' 2008 Southern League champs. MC fans are asked to wear their Choctaws gear and school colors, blue and gold.

Mississippi College baseball, softball, and soccer teams plus cheerleaders and coaches from the Clinton campus are expected to join the festivities. So are Student Government Association leaders and members of MC clubs and tribes. Bridges Harrison of Clinton will serve as honorary bat boy for the second straight year, and Hannah Kanengiser of Pearl will return as honorary bat girl.

Last year, MC Athletic Director and longtime basketball coach Mike Jones tossed the ceremonial first pitch. MC leaders including President Lee Royce should be on hand to greet university supporters.

MC's alumni office, public relations office, student affairs, athletics, enrollment services, and others are working with M-Braves General manager Steve DeSalvo to make it a fun event. Staffers with the Mississippi Baptist Healthplex in Clinton will also be at the park to offer fitness tips. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the game to begin at 7:05 p.m.

In the event of a rainout, MC Night will move to April 21.

"Last year's initial MC night proved to be a winner for the Mississippi Braves and a homerun for the entire MC family," said Andy Kanengiser, the MC university coordinator and one of the event's organizers. "Monday night is also $1 hotdog night, and you can't beat this kind of fabulous combination at any ballpark."
