MC to Hold Commencement on December 14, 2007

Mississippi College's newest graduates will hear remarks from a nursing education advocate at commencement ceremonies Dec. 14 in the A.E. Wood Coliseum.

President Lee G. Royce will join other MC leaders at the event beginning at 7 p.m. on the Clinton campus. More than 300 MC students are seeking degrees.

The guest speaker will be longtime MC faculty member Mary Ann Myers Henriques. Joining the MC faculty in 1990, Henriques serves as academic coordinator of the School of Nursing where she is responsible for the program's curriculum.

A 1973 MC graduate, Henriques was a member of the first class to graduate with a bachelor of science in nursing degree at the Christian university. She holds a master's in nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi and doctorate in higher education from Southern Miss in Hattiesburg.

Her principal area of teaching now is with students in their last semester of nursing. Henriques supervises students in clinical experiences at emergency rooms at three area hospitals.

A Flowood resident, Henriques is the mother of two adult children - both Mississippi College graduates.
