Mississippi College Career Day 2010 Coming Feb. 9

More than 600 Mississippi College students polished their resumes and chatted with scores of company recruiters at the 2009 Career Day on the Clinton campus.

With the USA economy still struggling and the jobless rate hovering around 10 percent, students cannot wait until graduation day to weigh their career options. Look for another big turnout at the 2010 MC Career Day on February 9. Geared to students and MC alumni, the event begins at 11 a.m. at Anderson Hall.

At the moment, about 80 employers, including 21 school districts are signed up. The MC Office of Career Services is working hard to make this another successful day, and its staffers encourage members of the Class of 2010 to take advantage of this opportunity.

Representatives from hospitals, schools, accounting firms, insurance companies, banks and government agencies, among others, will be seeking to hire MC people. Nine graduate schools, including the MC School of Law, will also be on hand. Jackson Public Schools, the Clinton Public Schools and Brookhaven School District, to name a few, will have recruiters in attendance. The event concludes at 3 p.m.

Corporate partners of the MC School of Business that will be attending include: Eubank & Betts; Horne, LLP; Haddox, Reid Burkes & Calhoun; Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance; and HMA-River Oaks Healthcare.

One new feature of Career Day is the launching of a business center that will be loaded with computers and copy machines. It is sponsored by Digitec. At the business center, students can make resume corrections on computers and print out copies. The employer hospitality room is sponsored by Horne, LLP and Eubank & Betts.
