Mississippi College Hosts Shakespeare Festival

The 32nd annual Mississippi College Shakespeare Festival presents a Renaissance Faire on Friday, April 24 at 6 p.m. at historic Jennings Hall Courtyard. An alternate site will be designated in the event of inclement weather.

Fairgoers will enjoy finger foods amidst madrigal musicians, strolling entertainers, and Shakespearean performers drawn from faculty, staff, and students. The MC Tribal Players will present Renaissance scenes and monologues at 7 p.m.

The Mississippi College Shakespeare Festival was born in 1977, the pop culture year when Star Wars streaked across movie screens and the year Elvis died. Dr. George C. Pittman ('59) and his wife Alicia ('60) began the festival at Baptist-affiliated MC and hosted the event for 25 years.

Tickets are $8 at the door (includes food and entertainment).
