Mississippi College Twin Sisters From Bosnia Perform at Guitar Concert on Clinton Campus


The Miric twins will be performing at Mississippi College on October 15. It is a free event and open to the public.

Mississippi College’s fabulous twin sister duo of Tanja Miric and Darka Miric Kooienga will make their return to the Clinton campus with a classical guitar concert on October 15.

The sisters are from Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Mississippi College graduates began their classical guitar training as eight-year-olds. Performing music by Bach, Haydn and others, the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Williams Recital Hall in the Aven Fine Arts Building.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The sisters are completing their doctorates in music at the University of Minnesota. Their most recent performances have brought the talented duo to the University of Minnesota’s concerts showcase, the Schubert Club Courtroom Concert Series, and the Fort Worth Guitar Guild and Ensemble Showcase.

Upon completion of their MC studies, the sisters were awarded full scholarships and teaching assistants to earn master’s degrees in music at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. They began their studies at Hinds Community College before coming to Mississippi College.

This semester, Tanja Miric is giving guitar lessons on the Clinton campus.

Tanja and Darka are preparing for upcoming guitar competitions in New York and Minnesota.
