New Art Exhibit Opens May 2 at Gore Galleries

Clintonian Matt Miley is among three Florida State University graduate students with works on display at the Samuel Marshall Gore Galleries at Mississippi College.

The exhibit on the Clinton campus runs from May 1 through June 2.

Miley is among the trio of students seeking master of fine arts degrees at Florida State. He is the son of Dr. Randy Miley of Clinton, chairman of the MC Art Department, and Vicky, an art instructor at Pearl High School.

The other two FSU students with their works on display are: David McLeish of Miami, Fla. and Jeremy Waltman of Johnstown, Pa. The three FSU students will exhibit their drawings, paintings and sculptures.

Their exhibition highlights emerging art forms that "reach across cultural and philosophical divides,'' Matt Miley said. He is a graduate of Clinton High and Mississippi College.

The exhibit is titled Apetalous coming from a Greek word meaning "without petals."

An opening reception is Thursday May 1 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The galley is open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. It is closed during school holidays.
