New Career Services Assistant Director

Hayley A. Fellows will help open career doors to thousands of Mississippi College students and alumni in her new post on the Clinton campus.

A 24-year-old Hammond, La. native, Fellows began work Monday as MC's assistant director of career services.

"Career services is an important aspect of a student's life," Fellows said at her office on the second floor of Nelson Hall.

Led by director Karen Lindsey-Lloyd, the Career Services office is dubbed Career Central. The office aims to help students find jobs, offers career guidance and tips to polish resumes and improve interview skills.

Monday through Friday, it's the busy clearinghouse on the MC campus that puts students and alums in touch with employers filling jobs in the metro Jackson area and beyond. In 2006-2007, there were 680 employers signed up for Career Central Services and the numbers are steadily rising this year.

Presently living in Vicksburg, Fellows received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Mississippi in May 2005 and a master's of business administration from Southeastern Louisiana University in August 2007. She was recently employed at the Office of Career Services at Southeastern Louisiana University where she managed their Career Fair. Fellows also coordinated local employer campus interviews and performed other duties to guide the paths of SLU students and alums. She's also served as interim director of the Hammond Downtown Development District.

"We are excited to have her aboard and provide more services to students, alumni and employers," Lindsey-Lloyd said. Students shouldn't wait until their senior year to get help, she said. "We want to be a resource from freshman through senior year."

Located at 206 Nelson Hall, Fellows can be reached at 601-925-7717.
