New Student Orientation Set for August 9, 2007

Mississippi College's new student orientation Aug. 9 will deliver the basics on financial aid, academics and residence life. There's also time for MC leaders to take questions from parents.

Up to 100 students are expected for the morning sessions beginning with an 8 a.m. check-in at the B.C. Rogers Student Center.

Executive Director of Enrollment Services Chad Phillips, Director of Student Life Rick Hartfield and Director of Career Services Karen Lindsey-Lloyd and Vice President of Academic Affairs Ron Howard will be among the orientation speakers. President Lee Royce will welcome the group.

The orientation date comes as students gear up for residence hall move-in day Aug. 18 and the start of fall classes Aug. 22. The sessions conclude at noon.

"We are thrilled about the incoming class this fall," said MC Director of Admissions Scotty Elliott. "In the recruitment phase we are intentional about delivering an education that is personable, committed to academic excellence and rooted in Christ. Upon arrival to our campus, students can expect to find an atmosphere that is consistent with that philosophy."

At the Christian university in Clinton, "it is my hope that every incoming student will quickly find their niche and develop lifelong friendships that will make their time at MC memorable and enjoyable," Elliott said.

MC officials say all signs point to growing enrollment that will exceed the record 4,162 students taking classes last fall.
