Orientation Welcome Mat Greets Mississippi College Students


About 145 incoming Mississippi College freshmen are booked for July 10-11 orientation sessions on the Clinton campus.

The newcomers are traveling from California, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi and other states around the nation.

It marks MC’s third two-day freshmen orientation this summer. A final one-day session for freshmen is set for August 25.

“We are very excited to welcome our newest batch of students to the Mississippi College family,” says enrollment services staffer Brandi Chancellor. “We want to warmly welcome these students to the place we are so fond of.”

The two-day program includes:

-- a welcome from President Lee Royce and orientation leaders at Swor Auditorium on July 10. It begins at 4:30 p.m.

-- visits to department offices to learn about registration and academic programs begins 5 p.m. that Thursday.

Other events on Thursday’s schedule include dinner at 6 p.m. with Mississippi Baptist leader Dr. Jim Futral to deliver the keynote address at the B.C. Rogers Student Center. After 8 p.m. worship and prayer time for parents at Provine Chapel, students gather for a party on the Piazza.

Friday’s student schedule includes early morning fitness activities on the Quad, breakfast, registration sessions, tours of residence halls, tips from Mississippi College Director of Student Success Terry Dent and lunch at the university cafeteria.

During their visit, parents are invited to learn more about Mississippi College financial aid, campus ministries, student life, campus security, career services and much more.

Other key dates include move-in activities for freshmen on Saturday morning August 23 followed by an afternoon convocation for new students and parents at First Baptist Church Clinton. Fall classes will begin at MC on August 27.
