Smoothie Shop Opens at Mississippi College

Campus Dining staffers Tiffany Cavett and Mashauna Wells are serving customers at the new juice bar at the Baptist Healthplex on the Clinton campus.

Fitness fans at Mississippi College now have another healthy food option: a new Smoothie Shop at the Baptist Healthplex.

Customers enjoyed the free samples as the fabulous juice bar opened its doors on the Clinton campus in late June.

For MC faculty, staff, students, alumni and visitors, the Smoothie Shop is the place to go for signature protein shakes, strawberry classic fruit shakes, fat free shakes and so much more. It’s the perfect reward after a rigorous workout, whether it’s at a spin class or following a brisk walk around the indoor track.

In a nutshell, Mississippi College “is raising the bar in the education industry by introducing completely all-natural whole food products,” in its new eatery, says Mike Prince, director of Campus Dining for MC.

The Smoothie Shop is designed to help the community achieve all of its wellness goals, he says.

The healthy venture is a partnership between Campus Dining at Mississippi College and Performance Food Centers, an industry leader in the planning, design, operation and supply of juice bars and cafes across North America. The company serves over 1,300 juice bars, typically located at cafes, health clubs, wellness centers, colleges, hospitals, country clubs and coffee shops. It’s the largest juice bar company on the planet.

MC’s latest food outlet is part of the Christian university’s new campaign to encourage faculty, staff and students to step up their fitness and wellness levels year-round.

Whether you want a shake to revive your metabolism, build muscle, replace a meal or let your taste buds try something delicious, the juice bar menu is loaded with healthy food choices.

The juice bar replaces a former conference room near the Healthplex’s front desk.

A grand opening is expected in late August when more than 5,000 Mississippi College students will be on hand for the kickoff of the 2012-2013 academic year, Prince says.

Prices vary, but start at $4.75 for fruit drinks.
