Students Elect New Leadership

David Parker
Mississippi College junior David Parker had no worries when his campaign for student body president was just days away.

There was good reason Parker was so calm. The 21-year-old from Meridian was running unopposed and cruised to gain a landslide election victory Tuesday. He needed just one vote to win to succeed outgoing Student Government Association President Harley R. McAlexander of Clinton. McAlexander cannot rest just yet. The Clinton High graduate will stay on the job until May 1.

Parker is presently the leader of the Campus Activity Board. He's been involved in MC student government since he was a freshman. In short, Parker is a pretty popular man on the Clinton campus, so nobody wanted to challenge him for the post, other student leaders say.

A political science major and Christian Studies minor, Parker is already looking ahead to his year of service as MC's new student leader. _
