Students Perform Fall Scenes at Aven Little Theater at Mississippi College

MC Communication Professor Sandra Grayson

Terrific performances of outstanding dramas are booked at Mississippi College’s Aven Little Theater this fall.

It’s time once again for Fall Scenes on the Clinton campus. MC students are busy rehearsing for four productions set for October 24-25. Sponsored by the MC Communication Department, the entertaining shows are open to the public. Tickets are sold at the door for $3.

The production of “Everyman” starts things off with a performance at 7 p.m. on Friday October 24. “Everyman” is a late 15th Century morality play that addresses topics like death, strength, fellowship and God. Maudi Strahan serves as the student director.

What follows next is the play “Eurydice” directed by MC student Emma Wilson. One of the characters of Greek mythology, Eurydice is one of the daughters of Apollo, the god of light and wife of Orpheus.

The eight cast members for this Mississippi College production of “Eurydice” include five Mississippians. They are: Rob Parker of Puckett, Jamie Ferguson of Clinton, Sam Lovorn of Philadelphia, Madison Kolbo of Petal and Alexander Kirk of Laurel.

Others in the cast include: Meagan Patrick of Memphis, Charlie Bell of Helena, Arkansas and Teagan Faust of Crestview, Florida.

Audiences are invited back for a second evening of Fall Scenes on Saturday October 25 at 7 p.m.

Coming first is the production of “Fences” directed by MC student Josh Brandt followed by “Trifles” directed by student David Miller.

“Trifles” is a one-act play written by Susan Glaspell in 1916. It tells the story of a murder of a small-town Iowa farmer named John Wright. It’s a riveting drama seen through the eyes of a newspaper reporter nearly a century ago.

The four Fall Scenes productions are being supervised by Mississippi College communication professor Sandra Grayson. Since that’s the case, audiences should be pleased by the quality of the latest performances at the Aven Little Theater.
