Three Candidates Seeking SGA Presidential Post


Mississippi College students head to the polls next week to select from among three candidates seeking the presidency of the Student Government Association.

MC juniors Harley McAlexander of Clinton, Alex Touchstone of Meridian, and Chase Porter of Picayune are running for the SGA post.

Polls in the MC Cafeteria on the Clinton campus open Tuesday April 1 at 7 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. There will be a runoff Thursday April 3 if necessary.

The outgoing SGA leader is senior Aaron Graham of Jackson. Porter, a member of the MC debate team, serves as SGA vice president. McAlexander is the SGA chief of staff.Touchstone is the elections commissioner after serving as an MC senator.

Based on previously contested presidential elections on the Clinton campus, about 900 to 1,000 MC students are likely to vote. The new MC student leader will take office May 1.
