As stated in the Mississippi College Undergraduate Catalog, “A student will not receive credit for Chapel attendance in any semester in which he or she accumulates more than the allowed absences.  There are no excused absences from Chapel.”

Students enrolled in Blue & Gold 101/Freshman Chapel must attend 10 large group experiences (Thursdays) and attend 10 small group meetings (Tuesdays). Freshmen are allowed no more than FIVE total absences. Of the allowed absences, no more than THREE absences may be accumulated in either the Blue & Gold 101 small group meetings (Tuesdays) or the large group Chapel meetings (Thursdays).

A few make-up sessions for small groups and large groups are offered during the semester.

Note: To receive credit for attending the initial Chapel meeting on Thursday, August 25th, each student must sit with and sign the attendance form of his or her small group.

Remember to receive credit for chapel you must download the Arkaive app from the App Store or from Google Play. When signing in each student must use their official MC email address to be counted as present. The Enrollment Code is “CS0H” (C S Zero H). If for some reason students are not able to check in through the Arkaive system Chapel workers will write down the student’s name and 700# (Students must have their ID on their person to check in manually).

If it is necessary for you to enter Chapel after 10:55 you may not receive credit for chapel.  If it is necessary for you to enter Chapel later than this because of a conflict with a class, you MUST have a note signed by the professor to this effect.  The professor’s note should list your name, ID number, date and time, and must be given to the monitor at the door before entering Chapel.  The monitor will take a picture of the note and make sure college officials are notified of the situation.

Blue & Gold 101/Freshmen Chapel only takes place during the fall semester each Academic year.

Chapel exercises are a significant part of the University’s educational program, and attendance is a part of the requirements for graduation. Participation in a given semester is limited, however, by the space available. For the best utilization of present seating capacity, the following requirements have been established.

Freshman

( 0-23 sem. hrs.)

4 semesters

Sophomore

(24-53 sem. hrs.)

3 semesters

Junior

(54-83 sem. hrs.)

2 semesters

Senior

(84 or more hrs.)

1 semester

For junior/community college students transferring more than the 65 hours applicable toward a degree, the Chapel requirement is 2 semesters.

All Freshmen are required to register for Chapel. Freshman Chapel/Blue & Gold 101 is designed for recent high school graduates who are in their first college semester. Freshmen Chapel includes a weekly large group meeting and a weekly Blue & Gold 101 small group meeting. Students who accumulate more than 3 absences in the Blue & Gold 101 small group or more than 3 absences in the large group will not receive credit for Chapel. There are no excused absences from Chapel.

Upperclassman students may choose their semesters to take chapel. A student will not receive credit for Chapel attendance in any semester in which he or she accumulates more than three absences. There are no excused absences from Chapel.
