Meet Anna, your online orientation host.
Upon acceptance to Mississippi College, degree-seeking students are granted either regular or provisional admissions status.
Regular Admission
Granted to students that have satisfied all admissions requirements and are enrolled as a degree-seeking student.
Provisional Admission
Granted to degree-seeking students that lack certain admissions requirements at the recommendation of a department chair or dean.
Provisional status must be removed before registration for work beyond 12 hours will be permitted. Provisional admission will also limit financial aid awards. Failing to remove provisional admission requirements within one year will impact federal financial aid eligibility.
Once you begin taking classes, your academic status will be determined by your cumulative grade point average (GPA).
Good Standing
The requirement for remaining in academic good standing at Mississippi College is a 2.00 grade point average (a “C” average), the same as the required for graduation.
Academic Warning
Academic warning indicates that a student is lacking 1-14 grade points for a cumulative grade point average of 2.00. The academic warning is on the grade report to alert the student and the faculty advisor.
Academic Probation
Academic probation indicates that a student is lacking 15-29 grade points for a cumulative grade point average of 2.00. After two full semesters (or equivalent) on probation, one must have a cumulative grade point average within 14 grade points of a 2.00 GPA to avoid being suspended
Academic Suspension
Academic suspension indicates that a student will be suspended if she/he lacks 30 or more grade points for a 2.00 cumulative grade point average, regardless of whether or not he or she was already on probation
