Message to Parents and Families

You have entrusted your children to the care of Mississippi College and we promised you that we would love them, look out for their best interests, and educate them. We promised to help them grow both spiritually and intellectually. None of that has changed; however, the current situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has forced us to be creative in the ways we keep those promises to you.

I want to share a few updates so that you will have the most current information regarding Mississippi College.

  • On March 22 we made the decision to transition all classes to online or alternate instruction formats for the remainder of the semester. Our faculty utilized the extended spring break to prepare to finish every class through these alternate means. Your child will receive our outstanding faculty’s devoted attention to providing the same high level of instruction in their courses that they have come to expect at MC. Our faculty will also seek to help our students process, understand, and respond faithfully to the circumstances in the world around them.
  • Our residence halls and dining services remain open on a limited basis for those who need to remain on campus. We have encouraged students to return home where possible to reduce the risk of the virus impacting our campus. Unfortunately, there are students who cannot return home and we are caring for them as if they are our own.
  • At this time, we are not aware of any cases of COVID-19 on our campus. We have increased our efforts to clean and sanitize our campus in order to minimize any potential impact from the virus.
  • We have not made decisions about schedules for final exams or commencement for this semester. We are hopeful that we may be able to return to campus and celebrate the accomplishments of our graduating seniors.

We are doing our best to respond to the numerous questions about operations, classes, financial issues, and health matters. You can find an updated list of Q&As on MC’s COVID-19 website. We update this website regularly so please visit it often to get the latest news about our campus.

My greatest joy in this job is serving and loving our MC students. This is what God has called me - and my colleagues - to do. We miss our students dearly. These extraordinary times have presented new challenges, but we will rely on our faith and our bond as the MC family.

Thank you for your prayers for MC and your continued confidence in the MC family to assist your children in striving toward academic excellence and commitment to the cause of Christ.
