Fall Preview Day Set for November 12 at Mississippi College

MC Preview Day Nov. 12

More than 500 high school students from 16 states will travel to Mississippi College for Fall Preview Day on November 12.

They’re coming from across the Southeast and as far away as Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana. Preview Day offers an opportunity that Saturday for visitors to attend classes, tour the Cadaver Lab, meet with President Lee Royce and watch MC’s home football game with North Alabama.

Activities on the Clinton campus begin with an 8:30 a.m. check-in at the B.C. Rogers Student Center. Visitors will hear remarks from Dr. Royce, admissions leaders and other staffers starting at 9 a.m. in Anderson Hall.

Speakers include Terry Dent, director of the Office of Student Success, MC senior Hannah Richards, a political science major from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and admissions director Kyle Brantley.

Parents won’t be left out at the 5,133-student Christian university. They are invited to sessions dealing with financial aid, scholarships and campus life for undergraduates.

Prospective MC students will learn about service clubs, tribes, the FCA, student government, and dozens of other organizations at the Baptist-affiliated university. They will meet with professors to discuss academic programs.

Students interested in joining MC’s outdoor sports programs, including the bass fishing, equestrian, clay shooting and archery teams, are welcome to attend an open house at Providence Hill Farm. The event runs from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Jim Turcotte, vice president for enrollment services and dean of students, oversees outdoor sports.

After a marathon of activities, prospective students and parents will walk to Robinson-Hale Stadium to watch the MC Choctaws battle North Alabama. It marks this season’s final home football contest. MC and UNA are Gulf South Conference rivals. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

MC’s Spring 2017 Preview Day is set for Saturday March 25.
