Flowood Center Continues Lunch and Learn Series

Mississippi College’s Lunch and Learn Series at the Flowood Center will focus on generational care giving and other living skills topics in October.

The guest lecturer at the free series will be Gary Mayfield, dean of MC’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences and a professor of sociology.

The lunch series dates will be Oct. 8, 15 and 22. All of the programs run from noon until 1 p.m. at the center at 115 Laurel Park Cove. The building is located next-door to the Flowood Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center. Flowood Center visitors are encouraged to bring their lunch.

The series began in September with programs focusing on resume building and boosting interviewing skills. Staffers with MC’s Career Services Center in Clinton helped kick off the lunch sessions.

The Flowood Center opened in mid-August and is home to a number of Accelerated Degree Programs catering to working adults in metro Jackson. The classes are offered two evenings each week.

During October, the center will be conducting a pre-holiday food drive to help feed homeless families at Stewpot in Jackson.
