Flowood Center Hosts Grand Opening

Mississippi College’s new Flowood Center is set for an August 16 grand opening, and inviting the public and community leaders to attend the ceremonies.

The event runs from 10 a.m. until noon at the MC center at 115 Laurel Park Cove. The eight-classroom center is next-door to the Flowood Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center off Lakeland Drive.

“Mississippi College leaders believe the Flowood Center will offer another convenient location to serve the higher education needs of working adults and others for years to come in this growing area of metro Jackson,” MC President Lee Royce said.

“We are delighted to form this partnership with the City of Flowood and the Chamber of Commerce and see room for growth ahead at this new site for our Accelerated Degree Programs,” Royce added. “We encourage citizens to take advantage of the opportunities to access an MC education in Rankin County.”

The ADP classes allow students to take classes two nights per week towards degrees in business administration, accounting, marketing, public relations and sociology. Classes begin August 23.

Leaders of the Flowood Chamber of Commerce are delighted to welcome the new MC center to their thriving community.

“We have a great Christian university coming here,” said Tracy Diez, executive director of the Flowood Chamber of Commerce. “We have a lot of people who work in Flowood and it would be easy for them to get an education and go home. I see an opportunity for growth.”

Flowood Mayor Gary Rhoads, members of the Flowood Board of Aldermen, Chamber of Commerce officials and other local leaders are expected to attend the grand opening of the Flowood Center.
