Healthplex Hosts Baptist Youth Night July 17

Baptist Youth Night figures to be one of the biggest evenings this summer for many young fans of the Baptist Healthplex in Clinton. It should be a blast for young and old alike.

The event Friday July 17 will bring scores of church youth from metro Jackson and beyond to the Mississippi College campus for hours of fun and games. For the sons, daughters and other relatives of MC faculty and staff, it would be a terrific way to spend a summer evening and get in a little exercise to boot.

Basketball, racquetball, swimming, pool, volleyball and pingpong are some of the activities scheduled. The Healthplex whirlpool and sauna will be available, too, for those who want to lose a few pounds. The activities begin at 9 p.m. and wrap up at 1 a.m.

Keith Montgomery, marketing director at the Baptist Healthplex, welcomes the crowds back to the 12-year-old fitness facility after a similar event there proved successful last summer.

The cost is $12 per person. The deadline to sign up is Monday July 13. The Baptist Healthplex is limiting the number to the first 200 kids to enroll. Admission is free for many of the adult chaperones. For every five children paying, an adult will be admitted free.

The Healthplex is opening its doors to Baptist youth after many will be attending a concert earlier that evening in Jackson. It will cost a little extra, but food will be available, including pizza, drinks and smoothies.

The word is getting out - at least 130 people recently signed up. They are traveling from Baptist churches in the greater Jackson area, plus as far away as Greenwood and Lucedale. For more information, call the Baptist Healthplex front desk at 601.925.7900.
