MC Admissions Office Bolsters Team

Mississippi College's admissions team has added two more key players.

Ben Gardner, a 2008 Mississippi College graduate from Smithville, goes to work on the Clinton campus Monday June 1 as an admissions counselor. Ben will work with Brandi Brown to assist college transfer students. During his undergraduate days, he was active in the Civitan club.

The office of enrollment services in late May hired Jo Beth Prather as its secretary-receptionist. A graduate of Clinton High and Mississippi College, Prather has served for a dozen years as hostess at First Baptist Church in Clinton. The Clinton resident already knows at least one MC student.

Her oldest son, Barry Prather, will be an MC junior this fall and is a member of the Choctaws soccer team. Her middle son, Lee, is a junior at Clinton High and her youngest son, Eric, is a 7th grader.

The admissions crew on the ground floor of Nelson Hall recently bid farewell to Lisa Leavell. But she didn't go far away. Leavell is the secretary-receptionist at the office of President Lee Royce near the main entrance to Nelson Hall.

An MC graduate, Leavell has other close ties to the Christian university. Her daughter Lucy is an MC senior studying to become a nurse. Her son Ro is a junior and pre-med major at the Baptist-affiliated school.

MC's team is led by Chad Phillips, the executive director of enrollment services who doubles as admissions director.
