MC Welcomes Assistant Webmaster to Staff

Biloxi native Justin Garcia recently returned to his home state to serve as assistant webmaster at Mississippi College.

"It is a blessing to be on staff at an institution where one can be regularly encouraged in their work, in their faith and in their daily life," Garcia said Monday.

For the past two and one-half years, Garcia was based in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta where he worked in web development for businesses and faith-based organizations, including churches.

A 2005 University of Southern Mississippi graduate with a bachelor's degree in information technology, Garcia is busy implementing a new design for MC's Web site. The new site should be unveiled by late October. The 24-year-old Mississippian is also developing a web standards guide for MC's site. He went to work at the Christian university in early September.

Garcia's wife, Sally, is a former Mississippi College student who's completing her undergraduate degree in early childhood education at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. The couple will reside in Clinton.

MC colleagues are delighted Garcia has joined them in the Office of Public Relations in Nelson Hall.

"We are happy to welcome Justin aboard as our first assistant webmaster," said Tracey Harrison, director of public relations at Mississippi College. "His skills when it comes to knowledge of rapidly changing technology and Web design practices are a good fit for us as MC enhances its Web site."

Another recent addition to the Mississippi College staff is Joseph Odenwald, 25, the new coordinator of student development. A native of Ferriday, La., Odenwald received a bachelor's degree from Louisiana College and is working on a master's in higher education at MC. His wife, Sophie, is a senior nursing student at Louisiana College. The couple will live in Clinton.
