When you are a new student arriving at college, you are stepping into a new place where you might not know many people. There are little to no familiar faces, and it can be difficult to meet new people and put yourself out there. This seems like a crazy situation, but that is where Welcome Week comes into play.
You are probably wondering, “what is Welcome Week?” Well, the name tells you plenty. It is six days full of fun and informational events that allow students to become acquainted with the campus of Mississippi College, local businesses and churches, and most importantly make them feel welcomed and loved by the returning students and faculty. Mississippi College wants students to feel at home on campus and be a part of the family of students here, and Welcome Week accomplishes that perfectly.
Six days might not seem like enough time to feel right at home, but trust me, you do not have to go far to see an exciting event happening during Welcome Week. Over 20 events are spread out over one week and I will name just a few: messy dodgeball with your residence hall, a “water-park” day out at the reservoir, bingo for great prizes, and an unknown night to top off the week called “The Event” (queue mysterious music). All of these events are free to incoming students, and some are even open to all of campus.
We want you to be a part of this awesome week, and we can’t wait to see you in the fall for your first week of college!
Sincerely, MC
