Law Professor Patricia Bennett Addresses December Commencement at Mississippi College

Mississippi College’s distinguished professor of the year, Patricia Bennett will deliver the December commencement speech to MC undergraduates.

A professor at the MC School of Law, Bennett serves as director of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Center on the Jackson campus. She’s also served as a former assistant U.S. attorney, and assistant district attorney for Hinds and Yazoo counties.

A trustee of the Mississippi Bar Foundation, and a former visiting professor at Harvard, Emory and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock law schools, Bennett will speak at the MC undergraduate commencement on December 19. The program begins at 2 p.m. that Friday at the A.E. Wood Coliseum on the Clinton campus.

Professor Bennett has won numerous awards including the MC Alumni Association Lawyer of the Year Award, and the Hinds County Bar Association Outstanding Service Award. She has taught in many of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Programs nationwide. In addition, Bennett has served as a captain in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the United States Army Reserve and the Mississippi National Guard Reserve for eight years.

A longtime education leader and Mississippi College alumnus, MC Foundation Board member Mike Walters will address the university’s Graduate School commencement. The program begins at 7 p.m. that Friday December 19 at the A.E. Wood Coliseum.

Dr. Marcia Rachel, chief nursing executive and nursing professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be the keynote speaker at MC’s School of Nursing graduation. The program on December 19 begins at 11 a.m. Friday at Swor Auditorium on the Clinton campus.
