Best Christmas Pageant Ever Hits Mississippi College Stage

If you want to enjoy more than a few belly laughs as some of the world’s worst children deal with the holiday season, go see “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” on a Mississippi College stage.

The MC Department of Communication is presenting the hilarious show at Swor Auditorium in Nelson Hall six times from December 1 through December 5.

Showtimes are at 10 a.m. on Dec. 1, 2, 3 plus 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 2. There are also performances at 2 p.m. on Dec. 4-5.

The MC Tribal Players and a cast of children from the Clinton area will supply the cast for Barbara Robinson’s modern classic production. They portray how a small church is preparing for a Christmas pageant. Even some of the planet’s rotten kids manage to see the joys of the Christmas season before the play wraps up.

MC students in the production from the Jackson metro area include Victor Barnette of Terry, Lisa Roden and Ann Howard, both of Jackson, Amy Drake of Pearl, Casey Myers of Richland, and Curtis Everett of Flowood. Former MC Choctaws football and baseball player Brannon Walls of Madison and MC student Clinton Carraway of Brandon are making their stage debut at the Christian university.

This will be the third year that Jay Kucia, a Jackson Academy senior, plays a role in the Best Christmas Pageant. “It’s really fun to get to try a different character this year,” says Jay, the son of Gerald and Mignon Kucia (who’s an MC communication professor).

Among the children in the show is CeCe Sistrunk, a Northside Elementary School second grader in Clinton. She’s the daughter of Chris and Shannon Sistrunk.

Tickets are $7 for general admission, $5 for all students, senior citizens and MC faculty and staff. There is a $4 group rate for those with 30 or more patrons. For reservations, call 601.925.3935.
