Law Professor Michael McCann Completes Return MC Assignment

A national expert in sports law, Michael McCann in early June is wrapping up his temporary assignment teaching the subject at the Mississippi College School of Law.

He's spent two weeks as Distinguished Visiting Hall of Fame Professor of Law at the school in downtown Jackson. There were more than 80 students in his class.

Before returning to his full-time job teaching at the Vermont School of Law, McCann says he will take time for a road trip to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. He continues to write a popular monthly column on sports law for sportsillustrated.com. National media outlets often quote McCann, who taught full-time at MC's law school before returning to his native New England. Sports law covers everything from pro sports contract disputes to legal issues involving the use of steroids.

McCann says he's planning to return to the MC School of Law to teach again next summer. He received his bachelor's at Georgetown and degrees from the University of Virginia School of Law and the Harvard Law School. He's a big-time Boston Red Sox fan.

While bidding farewell to McCann, MC's law faculty is welcoming three new faculty members: Jonathan Will, Wulf Kaal, and Christoph Henkel. Will and his wife, Audrey, are moving from Pittsburgh. Will joins Professors Kaal and Henkel from Chicago.
