Dean - School of Nursing

Mississippi College (MC) is seeking an outstanding nurse educator to provide strategic, visionary leadership as the Dean for the School of Nursing. The Dean serves as the academic and administrative leader for the School of Nursing and works collaboratively with administration, faculty, and staff.

Mississippi College was founded in 1826 and is the oldest institution of higher learning in Mississippi and the second oldest Baptist University in the nation. MC is affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention and is a private, co-educational, Christian university of liberal arts and sciences. With more than 80 areas of study, 15 graduate programs, a doctor of jurisprudence, a doctor of education leadership degree and a doctor of professional counseling degree, Mississippi College seeks to be a university recognized for academic excellence and commitment to the cause of Christ. The University is accredited by SACSCOC.

School of Nursing:

The School of Nursing, established in 1969, utilizing the principles of Christian living, endeavors to assist individuals to become positive contributors to the profession of nursing and to society as well. Nursing classes are conducted on the Mississippi College campus. Clinical portions of the nursing courses utilize a variety of hospital and agencies in the area around Jackson, Mississippi. Students may also elect for learning experience in other locations within the U.S. or in foreign countries.

The School of Nursing is governed by the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) for the State of Mississippi, and Accreditation is held by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The MC School of Nursing offers programs of study leading to a Bachelor and a Master of Science in Nursing degree. The BSN degree is available in a traditional or accelerated (for second degree students) format at our campus location in Clinton, Mississippi. The RN-to-BSN and MSN degrees are offered completely online. The next dean will have the opportunity to finalize the development of an additional Masters degree in nursing.

In addition to the nursing degrees mentioned above, the School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Health (B.S.P.H) as well as a minor in Public Health. The next dean will have the opportunity to finalize the development of a Masters of Public Health (M.P.H) program.
