Assistant Professor, Nursing
Welcome to the Mississippi College School of Nursing (MCSON) Faculty Homepage. It has been my pleasure to teach in the School of Nursing since 1992. Mississippi College (MC) has a great school of nursing and I know that if you choose to attend, you too will agree with me.
I am a 1977 graduate of Mississippi College with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education from the Department of Religion. After graduation from MC I felt a sincere call to begin nursing school. I attended the University of Mississippi School of Nursing at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. I received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1980 from the University of Mississippi. In 1982, I completed the Pediatric Nurse Associate Program at the University of Mississippi School of Nursing and in 1992 I completed the Master of Science in Nursing with a clinical emphasis in Critical Care Nursing and a functional area emphasis in Nursing Administration. Since 1992 I have taken post graduate courses at the Univeristy of Mississippi School of Nursing. During my career, I have worked in various roles of nursing from Staff Nurse, Unit Education Coordinator, Assistant Nursing Manager, Nursing Manager, Director of Nursing Services at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.
I am married to Sandy Barker Lewis, a Mississippi College 1970 graduate in Biology. Sandy and I have one son Andrew Channing Lewis. Andrew (Drew) is married to Allison Ann Lewis and they have twp daughters Stella Ann Channing, and Martha Arliss Lewis. Sandy and I attend Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, MS.
Nursing has proven to be a very exciting career, I am able to minister to people both spiritually as well as physically. As a faculty member of MCSON, I encourage you to pray about your career choice and look to God for his guidance in making this decision.
Please know that I am here to answer all of your questions. Do not hesitate to contact me and discuss your future in Nursing. We look forward to seeing you enrolled in our School of Nursing.
