Beth Stapleton is a professor of Spanish and Linguistics at MC in the Department of English and World Languages. Her research interests lie in Sociolinguistics, Second Language Acquisition, and Phonology of Spanish. She has done research in numerous countries relating to sociolinguistic and dialectal differences in languages. The research is used to inform language pedagogy in her classes through applied linguistics. Stapleton spends each summer in Spain directing the MC study abroad program in Salamanca. She currently serves as the Interim Chair for the Department of History and Political Science. Beth is an active member of Pinelake Baptist Church, serving on the worship team and participating in missions.
