Dr. Hargrove joined the MC Faculty in January of 2026. She is also an MC alum and retired student athlete. Dr. Hargrove completed her Ph.D. at Mississippi State University where her primary focus was exercise physiology, nutrition, and thermoregulation and where she was added to the Graduate School Hall of Fame and named the 2026 College of Education Graduate Student Research Ambassador. Dr. Hargrove’s research primarily addresses heat acclimatization, with studies ranging from sweat rate in youth athletes to wearable hydration monitoring technology, ultimately culminating in her doctoral dissertation: Assessment of Energy and Fluid Demands in Agricultural Workers in Mississippi—a collaborative effort with the University of Montana and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Dr. Hargrove teaches courses in the Department of Kinesiology focusing on exercise physiology, nutrition, fitness and health, and exercise testing and prescription. She loves working with and mentoring students, and preparing them with the skills to succeed in exercise and health-related careers. Dr. Hargrove is also the primary contact for Phi Epsilon Kappa (PEK) on campus. When not in the classroom or lab, Dr. Hargrove enjoys reading, playing piano, and going back to work on her favorite local farm
