Fall Decorating Contest Helps Brighten Clinton Businesses

Each day, the scarecrow doing pull ups near the Baptist Healthplex parking lot may inspire real Mississippians to step up their fitness routines.
Judges in the Clinton Chamber of Commerce’s Fall decorations contest were impressed with the character’s dedication to regularly exercise. The Baptist Healthplex display recently received first place honors in this creative annual event for Clinton businesses.
Staffers at the Baptist Healthplex on the Mississippi College campus won in the Enthralling Entrance category. Pumpkins, bales of hay and a watermelon stand mere inches away.
“We enjoy doing it,” says Baptist Healthplex marking director Josh Osborne.
Located in a high traffic area, the fit scarecrow remains popular with customers, Mississippi College students and others in metro Jackson. It many ways, the display says “who we are,” Osborne said. Motorists parking at the fitness center and medical clinic can’t miss it.
Weather permitting, the lean strawman will stick around through mid-November. It’s the third year in a row the Baptist Healthplex received a first-place award in the Clinton Chamber of Commerce contest.
Healthplex employees put their talents to good use and assembled the display in October.
Mascagni Wealth Management employees also can claim bragging rights. The firm of financial investment and planning professionals earned first-place honors in the contest’s Lavish Lawn category. Staffers visited the Farmer’s Market in Jackson to collect items to utilize.
Their decorative lawn display includes an old farm cart, flowers and a nice variety of pumpkins. “We had fun doing it” said staffer Jessicka Lockwood.
Employees at the Clinton-based firm at 205 East Main Street include Mississippi College graduates like financial advisor Matthew Brown.
There were two other Clinton chamber winners: The Cupboard was named No. 1 in the Fabulous Facade category. Mt. Salus Christian School earned first-place honors in the Dynamic Doorway division.
Founded in 1962, the Clinton Chamber of Commerce consists of more than 490 businesses, professionals and individual members. Its members seek to create a healthy environment in Clinton for residents to live and conduct business.
“This fun contest makes our vibrant City of Clinton even prettier during the Fall,” says Clinton Chamber of Commerce President Tracey Harrison.
“We thank all the Clintonians for taking part in the 2018 event,” added Harrison, who also serves as Mississippi College’s public relations director. “We look forward to seeing next year’s creative displays to enhance the beauty of our hometown in Central Mississippi.”
