Friday Founders Week activities postponed; classes shift online

In preparation for incoming winter weather and out of an abundance of caution for our students and MC family, MC will shift all classes and labs on the main campus in Clinton to virtual learning at noon on Friday, Jan. 23. All classes and labs on the main campus AND the MC Law campus will observe virtual learning on Monday, Jan. 26. This modification allows students who live in residence halls on the main campus to go home early for the weekend if they wish to do so. All students should monitor their MC email and log into Canvas for course-related updates from their professors.

MC Founders Week activities scheduled for Friday, Jan. 23, are postponed to a later date. We will share the new date once it is determined. Many people across our campus community and MC family, including many out-of-town guests who are not able to travel due to the weather, want to celebrate this important milestone with us. The postponement will allow us to celebrate our 200^th birthday when travel and event logistics can occur in better weather. Today’s (Jan. 22) Founders Week activities and campus activities will continue as planned.

Residence halls and campus dining in The Caf will remain open on the Clinton campus for those unable to travel home for the weekend. Chick-fil-A, Einsteins and Brickstreet Burgers will be closed.

The projected weather forecast includes extreme cold, wind chill, and the possibility of freezing rain, ice, and dangerous road conditions, which are anticipated to impact much of the state. All MC students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to exercise good judgment in making travel and personal safety decisions and monitor local media outlets for changing weather information.

MC will share an update regarding Tuesday’s operations by 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26. Information will be shared via MC email and institutional social media accounts. Please continue to monitor your MC email, MC Alert, and the MC website for further announcements.
