Front-Row Experiences Set for MC Prospective Students This Fall

Mississippi College leaders are inviting prospective students to get to know much more about the university by participating in Front-Row Experiences starting September 18.

What used to be known for years as MC Preview Days has changed its name. Admissions officials also adjusted their format to welcome potential students and family members.

The MC Office of Admissions is sponsoring the free events. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing will be practiced, and masks must be worn. Crowd sizes for the activities on the Clinton campus will be capped.

Attendance will be limited to between 100 and 150 prospective students at each Front Row Experience this fall, says admissions director Kyle Brantley. Each student can bring only one guest.

MC officials encourage prospective students to sign up in advance. Several of the sessions will be held outdoors. MC will follow all federal and state guidelines with a series of health protocols in place.

Featuring a Ted-Talk style format, there are multiple Front-Row Experiences this fall. The agenda includes remarks by President Blake Thompson as well as presentations by MC faculty, staff and students.

Biology professor Chris Weeks, for instance, will discuss what goes on in one’s brain when making a college decision. Economics professor Brandon Bolen will weigh in about the value of a college degree.

Christian Studies professor Ivan Parke will explore how Baptist-affiliated MC integrates faith and education into a singular experience. Student leaders will take part in a panel discussion.

Some things won’t change. There will be time for Clinton campus tours. That includes a visit to the Cadaver Lab in the Royce Medical Science Building. In addition, prospective students are invited to a college marketplace at Alumni Hall to learn about MC departments and programs.

Whether they are traveling from Southeastern states or other USA regions, prospective students and family members will discover what Mississippi College offers and how undergraduates fit into the community.

The first date to register for the Front-Row Experience is Friday, September 18 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other registration dates are September 26, October 9, October 23 and November 7.

There will be three Front-Row Experience dates set for Fridays (September 18, October 9 and October 23). There are similar agendas for visitors on Saturdays, September 26 and November 7. Times for the Friday sessions run from 12:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. The Saturday sessions begin with a 7:30 a.m. check-in and wrap up by noon.

Year-round, prospective students can arrange for individual campus visits by contacting the Mississippi College admissions office.
