Hardin, Logan-Tate join MC School of Nursing faculty

Ryan Hardin, left, instructor of nursing (maternal/newborn), and Kansas Logan-Tate, assistant professor of nursing (pediatrics), have joined the Mississippi Christian University faculty.

Ryan Hardin, an RN with six years of experience as a staff nurse and charge nurse in labor and delivery at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, and Kansas Logan-Tate, an MC alum and RN with more than 1000 hours of clinical experience as a pediatric nurse practitioner, are among the latest faculty additions to the School of Nursing at Mississippi Christian University.

Hardin will serve as an instructor of nursing (maternal/newborn), while Logan-Tate will serve as an assistant professor of nursing (pediatrics).

Rick Lewis, MC senior instructor of nursing and interim chair of undergraduate nursing programs, said Hardin is an outstanding addition to MC’s faculty.

“Ryan’s clinical background includes both pediatrics and women’s health, areas in which she teaches,” Lewis said. “She has a strong faith, combined with a passion for preparing nurses who serve with purpose and compassion. Ryan is deeply committed to equipping students with the knowledge, skills and Christ-centered perspective needed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.”

Hardin obtained her Associate of Arts from Cisco (Texas) Junior College, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Belhaven University and her Master of Science in Nursing/Nurse Executive Track from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Before joining the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, she served as a student nurse tech at UMMC and also served as a staff nurse at Caring Hands Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care in Ridgeland.

Recipient of the Baptist Health Foundation’s Carry the Mission Scholarship, Hardin was a member of MBMC’s Labor and Delivery Bereavement Committee and served as a recorder for MBMC’s Labor and Delivery Unit Council. She was also co-instructor of a birthing class at MBMC.

Kelly Harden, professor and dean of the MC School of Nursing, said Logan-Tate is a welcome addition to the faculty.

“Dr. Kansas Logan-Tate earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from MC before completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center,” Harden said. “She is a certified pediatric primary care nurse practitioner whose extensive pediatric experience will enrich both our first-semester nursing courses and our pediatric curriculum.”

Logan-Tate has served as a staff nurse at Children’s of Mississippi since 2022. She has completed pediatric clinical hours at the Children’s Safe Center in Jackson, Children’s Allergy, Asthma and Immunology of Jackson, Trust Care Kids in Brandon and the Allegro Kids Clinic in Columbus.

An active member of the Sigma Theta Tau International honor society, she is coauthor of the peer-reviewed article, “Social Determinants of Health Screening in the Pediatric Population: Evaluating the Effectiveness of Staff Education.”
