Mississippi Christian University named a 2026 ‘Great College to Work For’

Mississippi Christian University (MC) is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For® program conducted by ModernThink, an organizational development firm.

The results, released Sept. 18, are based on a survey of about 200 colleges and universities. In all, 76 institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions, with MC recognized among medium universities with 3,000-to-9,999 students.

"This recognition would not be possible if not for the dedicated faculty and staff on our campus that make Mississippi Christian University a vibrant place to work and learn every day,” said Laura Jackson, MC COO/CFO. “We strive every day to create a workplace where employees feel valued, supported and encouraged to grow."

MC was also named to the Great Colleges Honor Roll, a status awarded to the top 10 four-year colleges and top 4 two-year colleges in each size group. MC won honors in five categories: Professional Development, Mission & Pride, Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness, Faculty & Staff Well-Being and Shared Governance.

The survey results were based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captured employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.

“It is encouraging and rewarding to hear that MC has been recognized and commended so well by an outside organization for what we inside the institution know already to be true: that MC really is quite a great place to work,” said Christopher Weeks, MC associate professor of medical science and director of the Honors College. “Many MC employees feel quite proud to be a part of the university and support not just its educational goals, but the holistic vision of MC's formation of students.”

The Great Colleges to Work For® program, one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country, recognizes colleges that receive top ratings for workplace practices and policies.
