Mississippi College included in Wall Street Journal’s top U.S. universities

The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse has named Mississippi College to its list of 2026 Best Colleges in the U.S.
It is the second year in a row that MC has been included on the prestigious list of the top universities in the country. Mississippi College is the only private university in the state of Mississippi to appear on the 2026 list.
"It’s especially meaningful to see Mississippi College named among America's Best Universities by the Wall Street Journal once again,” said Michael J. Highfield, MC provost and executive vice president. “As a finance professor at heart, I'm especially delighted to see MC recognized in a publication I’ve long admired, read daily, and used in my own classroom. More importantly, this honor affirms the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff and the determination of our students.
“I’m deeply grateful for the way our MC family continues to pursue academic excellence while staying true to our Christ-centered mission."
The Wall Street Journal’s ranking focuses on how well colleges and universities set their graduates up for financial success.
The rankings are based on a survey of about 120,000 students and recent alumni, which measured factors such as quality of teaching and feedback, career preparation and learning facilities, and how likely students were to recommend their school to a friend.
"This honor signals to students and their families that the value of an MC degree is tangible and recognized nationally,” Highfield said. “It reassures them that their investment of time and resources leads to opportunity and impact."
The WSJ/College Pulse 2026 Best Colleges in the U.S. was developed and executed in collaboration with WSJ research partners College Pulse and Statista.
