About 200 prospective students are expected to visit the Clinton campus for Mississippi College’s Spring Preview Day on April 7.

The event that Saturday will attract students from around the Southeast, the Midwest and other parts of the nation.

It’s a nice opportunity for high school students and college transfers to meet professors, attend classes and get to know key leaders at the Baptist-affiliated university.

Activities that Saturday begin with an 8:30 a.m. check-in at the B.C. Rogers Student Center.

MC President Lee Royce, Jim Turcotte, vice president for enrollment services and dean of students, will be among the speakers at Anderson Hall.

At Spring Preview Day, “we want to put our best foot forward and paint a picture for students as to what their lives will be like at MC,” says admissions director Kyle Brantley. He will serve on a panel at the event and field questions from students.

Admissions counselors Cameron Treadwell and Tori Langworthy will be among other helpful staffers welcoming the visitors.

Parents won’t be neglected. There’s a session for parents to learn about financial aid and scholarships beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Anderson Hall.

Students are also invited to meet with professors and learn about academic programs at Alumni Gym. That event starts at 11:30 a.m. They also will find out about a smorgasbord of student organizations.

There’s time for a delicious spring lunch outdoors on a nearby Clinton street from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. In addition, visitors can tour the cadaver lab in MC’s medical sciences building along College Street.

Students interested in joining Mississippi College’s equestrian, bass fishing, archery or clay shooting teams can attend an open house at Providence Hill Farm from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Sports fans shouldn’t miss the lively Blue & Gold action on the diamond. The MC Choctaws baseball team faces Christian Brothers of Memphis in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. at Frierson Field.

The MC Lady Choctaws softball team squares off with Christian Brothers in a doubleheader that afternoon. The games at the MC Softball Complex begin at 4 p.m. The MC Lady Choctaws softball team excelled last season as the champions of the Gulf South Conference.
