Phi Theta Kappa places Mississippi Christian University on its 2026 Transfer Honor Roll

Mississippi Christian University (MC) has been honored as one of the most transfer-friendly universities in the nation.

The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society has named MC to its 2026 Transfer Honor Roll, recognizing the University’s exceptional success in creating pathways that help community college transfer students earn bachelor’s degrees.

The PTK Transfer Honor Roll is one of the nation’s most comprehensive recognitions of transfer excellence. Institutions are evaluated using data from the National Student Clearinghouse, along with data collected through PTK Connect, PTK’s online platform that connects the nation’s top community college students with transfer opportunities.

Angie Hardin, MC director of admissions and enrollment operations, said transfer students have a vital role in the University’s community.

“They are an essential part of our undergraduate population, bringing diverse experiences and perspectives that strengthen our campus,” Hardin said. “Phi Theta Kappa transfer students represent a significant portion of this group, consistently demonstrating academic excellence while providing leadership in many areas of campus life.

“When students transfer to MC, they choose a university recognized for its academic excellence and commitment to the cause of Christ. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to helping transfer students thrive, ensuring they experience all that it means to be a Choctaw while earning a degree that will prepare them for lifelong success.”

The PTK Honor Roll evaluates how well institutions support transfer students from admission through graduation. Colleges are assessed across several dimensions shown to influence transfer success, including admissions practices, transfer scholarships, cost of attendance, campus life, recruitment practices, and student reviews available to prospective transfer students.

Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, PTK president and CEO, said the Transfer Honor Roll Program identifies colleges and universities that understand the unique needs of community college transfer students and applauds the dynamic pathways these institutions have created to foster student success at the four-year college.

“This recognition is about much more than transfer agreements,” Tincher-Ladner said. “Successful transfer happens when institutions intentionally design policies, practices and campus cultures that help students thrive after they arrive. These colleges have demonstrated that transfer student success is not accidental. It is a strategic priority.”

The Transfer Honor Roll is a national benchmark for transfer excellence. In 2026, 275 four-year colleges and universities made the 2026 Transfer Honor Roll.

“Recognition matters because it shines a light on what works,” said Heather Yush, PTK senior director of college relations. “When colleges are recognized for transfer excellence, they create powerful examples that inspire other institutions to strengthen their own transfer pathways. Ultimately, that means more students earn the bachelor’s degrees they set out to achieve.”

The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society recognizes the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helps them grow as scholars and leaders. PTK serves as the nation’s largest honor society in higher education, with more than 4.5 million members and nearly 1,200 chapters in 11 countries, including approximately 220,000 active members in colleges today.
