Serials and Electronic Resources Librarian - Leland Speed Library

Mississippi College’s Leland Speed Library is seeking a Serials & Electronic Resources Librarian. This position is a full-time, 12-month faculty position without tenure.

Position Summary

The Serials & Electronic Resources Librarian manages the lifecycle of licensed print and electronic resources. As a member of the Technical Services team, this position ensures smooth workflow in serials and electronic resource cataloging. The Serials & Electronic Resources Librarian reports to the Library Director.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage database changes and renewals
  • Coordinate the library’s print and electronic serial subscriptions
  • Oversee the print journal stacks
  • Troubleshoot access issues and maintain authentication protocols for e-resources
  • Collect and analyze usage data from vendor/publisher sources and create reports to support purchase, renewal, and cancellation decisions
  • Arrange product trials and make available to faculty
  • Liaison with academic departments to determine electronic collection needs
  • Keep current with trends and applications in electronic resource management
  • MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited library school
  • Minimum of two years of library experience
  • Some familiarity with a bibliographic utility (we currently use Sky River)
  • Familiarity with an integrated library system (we currently use III Sierra)
  • Problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Education & Essential Skills

  • MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited library school
  • Minimum of two years of library experience
